Sleepy Hollow

Today was a long drive across New York. Yesterday I stopped in Bethleham, NH, which apparently is the poetry capitol of New Hampshire, so today, it was Sleepy Hollow, NY. Leaving Boston at 6 AM, it was good to get on the road early. Drove down through CT and into NY. Sleepy Hollow isn't too far once you cross the NY border.

The town is small and definitely the cemetary is the big attraction. Before the trip I did some research online and ordered a guidebook to the Old Dutch cemetary from the Sleepy Hollow Gift Shop. I walked through the Old Dutch church as well as the newer cemetary next door. After some searching, I found Washington Irving's grave, as well as Catarina Van Tressel - inspiration for the Legend of Sleepy Hollow book.

Back on the road around 1pm, I made it to Batavia, NY before stopping at Bob Evans for dinner. The night ended up crossing the Canadian border and arriving in Niagara Falls at the Embassy Suites. After a long trip, it was nice to get in and hit a nice, hot shower.
